It’s crafted in a way that you build up to the moral dilemmas. The story has joy and fun woven with the larger complexities, so it doesn’t end up bogged down by the choices you face. The complexity of the situation and the drama that accompany it are balanced with breaks to play beer pong or watch movies. The Alters is much closer to a colony or resource management game than a full-blown survival title.

The moral implications of cloning yourself aren’t lost in all the resource and base management systems. If alter management just ended here, it would be like playing God with a group of Sims, or making sure your Neopet gets watered and fed. But this is 11 Bit Studios, so of course, there’s going to be human complications. So, so much was happening that it started to not only strain the bounds of credibility, it was just plain frustrating. But for all this chaos and apparent disregard for life, this final run manages to find light in the shadows.
